Armoring is the process of defending a weak point of your build from damage against cutters and weapons. Weapons are able to break blocks that defend against them and cutters are able to penetrate through armor, more or less efficiently depending on the shredder.
A generally good design is to increase the layers of protection between your core, and make blades have a lower chance of actually being able to clip through your armor.
Armor blocks
Different blocks have different relative costs, health and efficency.
Different armor blocks
For example, tnt has a higher relative cost and lower efficency than compressors. This is because compressors have no limit but can be broken from weapons and tnt has a limit of 200 blocks but cannot be broken.
Compressors can fill two blocks of space and be painted ice, which makes your core harder to hold onto.
Tnt blocks are only broken by unconventional weapons, tnt and lava spitters

Pushback demo.
Pushback
Pushback is whenever the hitbox of a part clips inside of the hitbox of another part and a force proportional to the model's size and mass is applied going from the center to the outside. What this means is that after clipping halfway through an armor block it tends to pull your blade inwards to the core, this can be counteracted by the usage of pushback manipulation via overlapping of differently sized blocks.
Examples of pushback manipulation are:
Overlapping armor to create stronger outwards pushback.
Filling inwards pushback with another block to neutralise it.
Using compressor blocks set to one compression to extend the distance of outwards pushback.
Angling
Angling diagram.
Angling uses basic physics to increase the effectiveness of your armor, having angles in your armor causes deflections and more thickness at certain angles. It is used in real life and other build types.
You should consider how much an angle deflects and how many armor blocks you need for it.
